About the gala
Last year, State Farm® honored five women during Life Insurance Awareness Month at a gala luncheon on New York City. Each honoree received a paid trip for two to attend the luncheon along with a cash prize of $10,000. This year, marking the fifth anniversary of the program, a group of 13 men and women, who have lost a spouse or parent, will be honored with $10,000 each and a trip for two to Chicago, where they will be recognized at the Embrace Life Awards Ceremony in August.
Dr. Joy Browne
 2007’s Embrace Life Awards spokesperson was Dr. Joy Browne, clinical psychologist, national radio host and accomplished author. She presented the Awards and gave the keynote speech at the ceremony last year.

Susan D. Waring
Susan D. Waring, CLU, ChFC, is the motivating force behind the Embrace Life Awards program, which she initiated to recognize women who have overcome the loss of a spouse. Her efforts have ensured that these women, who have demonstrated strength after this difficult life event, are honored. Ms. Waring attends the Embrace Life Awards gala luncheon each year to meet the honorees and present their awards.
Ms. Waring is executive vice president and chief administrative officer of State Farm Life Insurance Companies in Bloomington, Ill. She is also vice president of Health, State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company and is a member of the board of directors of State Farm Life, State Farm Life and Accident Assurance, and State Farm Annuity and Life companies. |
